Q+A: Does Your Wedding Planner Attend Your Rehearsal Dinner?

Welcome to our wedding Q+A series. From wedding etiquette and vendor needs to guest experience and design advice, we’re here to teach you more about the wedding planning process and inform you of best practices.

Q: “Do you invite your wedding planner to your rehearsal dinner?”

A: Typically no, and you are not expected to. Traditionally, only the wedding party, immediate family, and anyone with a special role in the day like an usher, personal attendant, or ceremony reader is invited to the rehearsal dinner.

Your wedding planner is a vendor that works on your behalf, so we don’t expect to partake in the pre-wedding fun the night before. We want you to enjoy the dinner with your friends and family! If your wedding planner was involved in the planning of your rehearsal dinner, they may attend the dinner if their scope of services includes on-site coordination that night — but they are working as a vendor, not a guest.

But what if your wedding planner is already there for your ceremony rehearsal?

Depending on your wedding planning package and the services included, your wedding planner may direct a ceremony rehearsal the night before. Oftentimes, this will be at the same location as your rehearsal dinner rather than at your venue. You are welcome to invite your planner/coordinator to stay for dinner, but again, not expected to.

We sincerely appreciate you asking, but usually, we take the opportunity to head home for an early night — we’re going to be on our feet all the next day while managing your wedding!
