Timeless Taupe Summer Wedding at The Hutton House
Aunie and Blake’s June wedding at the Hutton House was classy, timeless, and full of heartfelt moments. We loved supporting them through the planning process and on their special day!

Aunie and Blake met through mutual friends at the University of Wisconsin—Madison (go Badgers!). While Aunie stayed for grad school, the couple dated long-distance for three years as Blake lived in Arizona. They got engaged shortly after Aunie graduated, and knew that celebrating in Aunie’s home state of Minnesota just felt right! Without even touring their venue in person, the couple booked the Hutton House as the perfect backdrop for their timeless and classy wedding.
THE VISION
The Hutton House in Medicine Lake, Minnesota is a luxurious “blank slate” venue with a clean white aesthetic and walls of sliding window doors. It was the perfect setting for the timeless and elegant wedding that Aunie and Blake dreamed of! Letting the venue set the tone for the day, the couple used minimal decor and opted for minimal floral arrangements and bud vases. Their color palette was crisp and neutral with white, cream, taupe, and champagne.
Aunie and Blake chose to have their ceremony in the Fireside Room in front of the large white brick fireplace, which felt more fitting for their vision than the outdoor courtyard (the lush greenery was a much better setting for mingling during social hour!). Plus, Aunie wanted to make her dramatic entrance from the staircase! The ceremony music was performed by an event pianist which added to the classy ambiance.
The couple’s wedding party included 18 of their closest friends. Aunie looked stunning in a sleek modern gown from a&bé. Bridesmaids wore taupe and Blake and his groomsmen wore black suits with bowties, all coming together for a timeless look.
MOMENTS FROM THE RECEPTION
Aunie and Blake wanted to ensure their guests knew just how appreciative they were to celebrate their wedding day with every guest. To show their gratitude, the couple wrote personal thank you notes to each of their guests that we used as their namecard at dinner tables.
Have you ever heard of a bouquet dedication? A bride’s father traditionally gets all the “highlight” moments during his daughter’s wedding like walking her down the aisle and sharing a father/daughter dance. Aunie wanted to do something special for her mom, who was so incredibly supportive during their planning process (she even went to tour venues in person for the couple because they lived out of state!). During dinner, Aunie shared a thoughtful speech and gifted her bridal bouquet to her mom! It was such a sweet moment and a special way to thank her for everything.
