Alex and Rachel’s Warm and Elegant Fall Wedding at The Hutton House

Picutre this: a crisp November day, a beautiful modern minimalist venue, and vibrant fall-inspired florals. That was Alex and Rachel’s cozy wedding day!

Alex and Rachel romantically got engaged on Christmas Eve! They knew they wanted to get married the following year, so they quickly began the venue search. Luckily, they snagged one of the last available dates at the Hutton House, a luxury Minnesota wedding venue. The couple then reached out to HappiLily Events and hired us for Partial Planning + Design! With just under a year to plan their wedding, we jumped into planning to help the couple book their remaining vendors and refine their vision. Here’s how their dream day came together!

THE VISION

Alex and Rachel wanted to bring a taste of fall into their wedding while keeping the overall vibe modern and simple. They chose a rich color palette that complemented the season perfectly with deep oranges and rust tones, soft yellows, blush pinks, and gold accents. The vibrant fall-inspired florals were designed by The Cutting Garden. Bouquets and arrangements included sandstone roses, cafe au lait dahlias, orange chrysanthemums, and the occasional magenta dahlia added a bold color pop! From the modern gold circular arbor to the table centerpieces, the florals created a warm and inviting atmosphere in the venue. We especially loved the floral installation on the white brick fireplace in the Fireside Room. Large colorful arrangements and smilax greenery cascaded off the mantle, which was surrounded by glowing pillar candles.

Rachel looked stunning in her lace-detailed wedding dress and her bridesmaids looked effortlessly elegant in their fall-inspired attire from Azazie. They wore mismatched dresses in shades of terracotta, rust, verona sunset, and sienna. The velvet dresses perfectly complemented floral arrangements and added to the warmth of the day’s aesthetic. Alex and his groomsmen wore classic black suits.

THE SWEETHEART TABLE

For dinner, the couple chose a sweetheart table — a smaller table just for the newlyweds. This gave them some time to themselves, to quietly reflect on the day together. The couple’s cake stole the show as their table “centerpiece” on a vintage gold cake stand surrounded by lush greenery and glowing candles. Behind them, we repurposed the ceremony arbor!

THE UNITY TREE

During the ceremony, as a symbol of their new unity, the couple planted a tree together. They chose a money tree to manifest prosperity and good luck as they began their marriage. We loved this thoughtful idea, as they will continue to grow and nurture the plant, just as they will their relationship!

Cheers to Alex and Rachel!

Thanks to the warm color palette and intentional decor accents, even with 250 guests Alex and Rachel’s wedding felt cozy and intimate!

Here’s what the couple has to say about working with HappiLily Events:

There are no words my wife and I have to explain how valuable and appreciated Lily is! We’re convinced that Lily’s ability to manage and plan weddings is a superpower, and for that, my wife and I are grateful!

Her expertise, knowledge and communication shine through even the hardest parts of planning a wedding. From our first meeting to the end of our wedding night, Lily has advocated for us, “worked” for us, taken the brunt of our headaches and stresses, listened to us, consulted us, and encouraged us...

Lily, thank you from Rachel and I for such an amazing experience! We are glad to have shared the past year with you researching, planning and executing our most special wedding day.
